Reading an image - media codes

 




 Technical:
- The lighting has a harsh and monochromic aesthetic , with black and white , on a up close shot on 50 Cent to show intensity- a stage shot directly addressing a stern expression showing seriousness.

Written:
- anchorage text
- 'O's' filled in symbolic of gunshot wounds - that he has faced and apart of his past also symbolising the text ' i am what i am ' 
- Title / slogan  - reflection of his past, same line but mirrored
- Limited edition product unclear what's being sold

Symbolic:
- facial expressions
- serious / angry
- colour scheme
-slogan excludes confidence
-strength 
-fingerprints represents crime 

Narrative:

- enigma code , slogan , fingerprints, black + white, unaware of backstory? , monocrome - mysterious story
Action - police involvement, 50 cents' identity ' no plan b' - unknown future.
reinforcing capitalistic ideologies - promote their brand 



Technical:
-there is a bottle and cigarettes to show a prison and a man clenches his fists on it with writing underneath, the organization written indicates a health concern.

Written:
-Title's warn those who have addictions of what it can do to their health- red colour font 'STOP SMOKING AND DRINKING' shows its harshness and blood can connote to a death aspect / harmful.

Symbolic:
-The cigarettes and beer bottle symbolize a prison behind the man, asif it has a physical grasp against him restraining him from escaping- showing the severity of addiction 
- Fists show attempted escape/ no longer wanting it
- colour scheme

Narrative:
-That those who struggle with addiction struggle incredibly , due to mental confines it causes and dependence .
- Shows severity of consequences of using substances like alcohol or tobacco

  Newspapers Which daily newspapers (if any) do you read? I don't read any. What sections of newspapers do you turn to first, and why? I would turn to entertainment. What sections do you never read, and why?
